DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer

"I'm a rancher!" This guy's awesome.

The little Montana delegation just went sick.

If you drill in all of John McCain's backyards, even the ones he doesn't know he has...that proposition is a dry well."
And...

Barack Obama understands that the most important barrel of oil is the one you don't use.

He looks like he is having so much fun.

Barack Obama's energy plan will give us energy independence. John McCain will Four More Years of the same old same old.

Another good line:

The petro dictators will never own the wind or sunshine.

Seriously, this guy is rocking the house.

OK, for the first time tonight, bloggers are on their feet.

It's time for EVERYONE to get on board.  I loved Warner's Message.  We must show promise and a future for our Nation.  Ignorance can only get you so far.  Racism and Sexism can only get you so far.  It's time to take back the Nation

A dumb technical question (none / 0)

I'm watching the live feed on the DNC website.

My feed seems to be lagging about 10min behind?

Any idea why?

Re: A dumb technical question (none / 0)

Im not sure about cable but if you have Satellite (at least Dish network) there is a live feed... in both HD and SD... Pasty white politicos in HD is scary let me tell you.  At least there is a menagerie of race at our convention... THe RNC will look like a bunch of pasty vampires.

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

I like Schweitzer a lot...

I'd say he's mastered the art of being a politician that doesn't sound like a politician, but then -- it seems more like he doesn't sound like a politician because he's not a politician, rather -- a rancher that got elected to office.

No... he's my governor.  Trust me, he's a politician.  He's just really really good.

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

OK - don't take this at all as insult, because it's meant to be delivered as a compliment - but watching Schweitzer gesticulate and use this great "whattya kidding me?!?!?" tone -- I'm reminded of my own dear ol mayor...

I'm sure the similarities stop there - but this is like a Daley press conference when he's really "on" - and when Daley is really "on", you can understand why Chicago loves him, warts and all.

Schweitzer is doing a fantastic job of promoting Obama's awesome energy plan that I wrote about on this very site.

Obama needs to add that to his stump speech immediately. That's a soundbite.

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

He should have been the ruunning mate, but it means it's a late-night speech for Hillary.  Maybe that's the plan--another slight by putting the speech to late-night.

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

Not everything is a slight to Hillary Clinton.  In fact, her time slot is the most coveted.

It may be 10:30 where you are, but it is 7:30 on the west coast.  Everyone is getting this live.  If it was any earlier, the whole west coast would miss it.  Its the best time.

Even though I really wanted Obama to pick Hillary as VP.  Perhaps he should have picked this guy from Montana!

He seems very cool!

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

I don't think he wanted it.   HE is running for re-election in Montana.

I was a skeptic but Schweitzer is the real deal.

Hypothetical 2016 Dem Primary:

-- Schweitzer
-- Patrick
-- Clinton
-- O'Malley
-- Warner
-- Biden

how to choose?

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

Biden's a great guy but after all he's been through, and assuming he goes through 2 elections as a VP, I think he'll probably go home to Delaware in 2016, assuming (hoping) things work in that fashion.

At least he's better than that silly Hillary video with all the music--it just takes away from the content.

Re: DNCC: Gov. Brian Schweitzer (none / 0)

I may be the only one, but I liked the video... I got a good chuckle out of writing to NASA asking how to be an astronaut :).  Poignant but strong - the video is aimed at the primetime general public, and I think it hit that audience head-on.

schweitzer was great. Nothing like seeing some rancher turned governor enjoy the limelight. Loved the "cheap seats" comment.

so raw, in a good way.

we have to polish him up a bit... (none / 0)

but there is a lot of raw material to work with.  He had to be nervous as hell tonight and his gestures showed it.  Obama gave him a last hour slot and he delivered.

Four more years as governor and then four years as Secretary of Agriculture in the second Obama Administation and he'll be ready.  It was probably wise of Obama to keep him off the ticket this year.  But this guy is part of the future of the Democratic Party

Talking Heads:

Except for his last line, all of Schweitzer's speech on MSNBC was talking heads running up to Hillary.  Outside of the Hall, there was nothing there on his speech.   I was also checking CNN too, same thing.

The Message IS NOT getting out of the bubble.
