I Ain't Concerned (O45-M38 National, O45-M40 Alaska)

My presence lingers.  I continue to post in a much diminished capacity.  My break seems to have cooled my nerves.  I will try to be a little more level-headed.  As such....

I ain't concerned.  Tracking polls aren't without any meaning at all, of course, but they are useful really only for measuring trends if you take a broad enough perspective.  Gallup just released a new non-tracking poll.

There will be outliers, folks.  Barack Obama will have the occasional bad week and John McCain will have the occasional good week.  It happens.

Keep it in perspective.  Keep working hard.  We are winning, but we haven't won yet.

But again, I ain't concerned.

John McCain should be concerned, however. A poll of Alaska just came out. Obama 45, McCain 40, Barr 2. http://www.pollster.com/blogs/poll_hays_alaska_867.php. Wowza.

My only concern is Democrat's penchant for complacency.

So, ahem,  my concern is for our lack of concern.

Unfortunatly as you know, the "Concern" that is so infamous on MYDD is the kind whose goal is to weaken our candidates and our party.

My concern's goal is to strengthen unity and resolve.

I worry us lazy "I'd Rather Be Blogging" bumper sticker democrats might sit out the 2008 elections, or we might skip out of the first 2009 DC War protest.

I'm more used to the Democratic permanent state of panic and despair.  It's a welcome relief.  

And not how many are panicking and despairing over the state of complacency.  Every silver lining has its dark cloud, I guess.

And when the Cubs get a man on base in the first inning, and somebody cheers, do other fans stand up and berate him, saying, "Your irrational enthusiasm is going to make the Cubs lose!"  That would be comparable.

Yea, the poor fella looks really tired.

Im not playing, I half expect him one day to quit the campaign.
I honestly don't think he really wants to be President.

Take into consideration his parallels with John Edwards:

McCain wants it now because he feels like he was cheated out of it in 2000.

It's not much of a reason, really, but it's all that he's got.

I tend to doubt he does much soul searching anyway.

I'll give lil bobby some credit.

His crazy religious angle is not all show, I think this guy might be for real crazy.

As VP pick, He kind of reminds me of Dan Quayle, dont ask why he just does.

Maybe the parallel of a VP admitting to not being able to spell words or a VP admitting he is a trained exorcist.....

It's funny.  I actually a little fond of Bobby Jindal.  I think he'd be a disaster on the ticket, but as Republicans go, frankly, he's all right.  Sure, he's "for real crazy" but in a way I can sort of admire.  Why just bitch about demons when you can do something about them?

Reaper: Im not sure where your sarcasm blends from reality, but yeah sure I get it.
I have the same affinity for Mike Huckabee, sure he let rapist go because their victim was clinton's niece, but hey he pushes conservatism with a warm smile and can pull off assassination jokes.

RNC convention is shaping up to be pretty meh and held in hostile territory. DNC convention seems to be on track to be seem busting big, if people will chill about the Clinton roll call, things should be a big party with lots of enthusiasm. Early Sept I bet we'll have at least one poll with O up +10.

The only folks who seem freaked about the Clinton Role Call vote are the NoQuarter loonies, who think it is some conspiracy to stop the hundreds of Supers who are poised to defect....

But, I disagree on your poll estimate. The MSM is invested ONLY in keeping eyeballs on their pundit-fest, they will keep it close by giving McCain a free ride that makes Ron Reagan look like he was attacked on a daily basis.

And, of course, if Obama so much as drops a bottle and misses the recycling bin, they will say he's losing it, it's all coming apart.

But, screw the polls, screw the pundits, just keep sending Axelrod money, so he can build those GOTV and registration teams. Wars are won on the ground, fund those footsoldiers, and we win.

Obama will do it, it's just a matter of how big.

If Jindal or any other minority gets the vp nom for the GOP than I will get over my rage of the Penn family stealing over 7 million from Democrats and injecting bigotry into our primaries.

At that point, I think I might be ready to call myself an independent.

Is it possible to ever have campaign teams made of patriots?

Is that too hard?   And I dont mean patriotism in the bullshit made up GWB version, Im talking the real deal.

My concern is not just winning, but by how much because that affects the narrative after he wins. As I said else where the difference between a squeaker and a landslide is my concern. Complacency within this dynamic doesn't equal a lose per se, but it does mean a lost chance to further push for a map changing election.

It's hard to believe that he decided to run negative ads on the Olympic coverage.  Between him and Russia, there aren't much in the way of warm fuzzies this Olympic season.

At least Phelps is kicking ass...

Anyway, I'm not worried so much as burned out.  I don't blame Obama for going on vacation.  Besides, when he doesn't have an active opponent, McCain's kinda comical.
